Three new Asus Zenfones and more

Finally, Asus is all set to kickstart its Zen Festival today. “We are serious about the Indian market which is growing tougher day by day and that is why we want to do something different. We will showcase more products and share their prices at the Zen Festival,” Asus managing director Peter Chang recently said.

Theh key highlight of the event is said to be the launch of three new smartphones – ZenFone 2 Deluxe,ZenFone Selfie and the ZenFone laser. With these new devices, the company plans to target three market segments –  people crazy about selfies, those looking for devices in a lower price band but at the same time new superior specs.

The Deluxe is likely to come with 4GB RAM, sleeker design and crystal miracle design on the back panel. Then there’s the ZenFone 2 Laser and as the name goes will come with a laser auto-focus and an upgrade over the first generation ZenFone. Finally, the Zenfone Selfie is dedicated for selfie lovers.

At the event, we will see some tweaks to the Zen user interface. The new interface is reportedly aimed to increase battery life and for a more lag-free experience.

Recently, Peter Change also announced  plans to Make in India, just like most vendors these days. Asus plans to start contract manufacturing in India soon. “We are looking to make 70 percent of our smartphones in India,” Chang had told IANS. “But we want to focus on the product and not on the manufacturing, so we have taken the decision of contract manufacturing.”

In India we are also launching ZenTalk – a forum for our customers to keep connected to Asus with whatever problems they have on their devices.

Asus’ India strategy also personal computers and notebooks. “We are looking to enter the enterprise market in India, as our consumer base is already strong. We are focusing on the private sector in verticals like education,” Chang had said. But we don’t expect any such announcement tomorrow as the event may focus only on its Zen phones.

Asus has been hinting to enter the wearables market in India with the ZenWatch 2 and a fitness band. We wonder if the company plans to showcase new wearable products today. Watch out the space for all updates about today’s Asus Zen Festival.
